"He married Catherine Covington there in October, 1757."
"Early records of the Presbyterians, who are excellent document keepers, show that Hugh Ghormley was born in Tyrone County, Ireland, On March 2, 1733 and married Catherine Covington in 1757."
GHORMLEY Family, First Generation, 1. Hugh1 Ghormley birth date unknown.
"The earliest record the author has been able to find is in America: the tax list for Chester County, Pennsylvania 1765."
"It can only be guessed where they spent the time between the listing of Hugh I in the Chester County tax roll 1765 and the one for Cumberland County 1771."
"They were Presbyterians."
"Early records of the Presbyterians, who are excellent document keepers, show that Hugh Ghormley was born in Tyrone County, Ireland, On March 2, 1733 and married Catherine Covington in 1757."
Birthdate is listed as May 2, 1733
"He served in the Revolution in 1777, and died in November, 1813."
"In November, 1813, Hugh I. Ghormley died, and it is thought by some that he was living with his son, Thomas."
"He probably moved from the home of Hugh, Jr. over to Greenfield to stay for awhile with the family of Thomas whom he hadn't seen for a number of years. We have only family papers to say he died at the home of Thomas and their sources are vague."
"The 1790 census locates Hugh I and family in Rye Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania."
"In May, 1759, they came to America and settled in Pennsylvania"
"Early records of the Presbyterians, who are excellent document keepers, show that Hugh Ghormley was born in Tyrone County, Ireland, On March 2, 1733 and married Catherine Covington in 1757."
"She was born in Ireland in 1736."
"Catherine died in April, 1803, in Pennsylvania."
"Where Hugh I and Catherine are buried is not known for certain. Every cemetery where they could have possibly have been buried has been searched but with no success. Catherine and Michael would both have been buried in Pennsylvania and there are two possible sites, but neither give any clue.
If they were buried in a cemetery it would have been the "Dick's Gap Cemetery." It was the closest one to the home when Michael died and if he were buried there it is logical, Catherine would have been placed beside him if possible. Historians and old settlers agree that the weather would have had a bearing on the possible burial places. If the weather was bad or the time of death was winter, they would not have gone far afield. So Catherine could have been buried on the farm. If she was buried on the farm there is no marker today to show the place. That was one hundred sixty years ago and much clearing, changing of land and erosion have taken place, so if her grave is there and was marked, time has destroyed it. We know Michael died in the month of May so he could have been buried either place."

"He spent most of his life in Blount County, Tenn., and died there May 13, 1848."
"His horse was found in May, 1845, but nobody has been able to tell whether he was robbed and killed, or whether he died on the way home from other causes."
